THE INAUGURATION AND WORKING DELIBERATION OF UPBA’s BOARD MANAGEMENT PERIOD 2022

Amelia Fernanda was officially inaugurated as the General Chief of UPBA (Unit Pengembangan Bahasa Asing), that is one of the Student Activity Unit (UKM) in the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya, as well as all the new management board. The inauguration of the management for the 2022-2023 periods was held at the Hall of the Mukmin Mandiri Islamic Boarding School, Graha Tirta Estate Bougenville No. 69 Ngingas, Waru Sidoarjo, on Saturday (19/3/22), with the theme "Creating Better Performance And High-Spirited Leadership". It is hoped that the Inauguration as well as the Working Meeting (MusKer) will be able to create better performance and high-spirited leadership.

The inauguration ceremony was opened directly with remarks speech from the Head of the Inauguration and MUSKER UPBA 2022, Andini Laksmita Tri Prayitno, then followed by the Secretary of DEMA Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Nurhana Fakhriyah Imtinan. The activity was also attended by some students through zoom meeting, DEMA Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, other Student Activity Unit (UKM) and also attended by the representatives of the Student Association.

Nurhana in her speech representing the Chief of DEMA said that the purpose of the formation of the management board is to achieve success in an organization, so there is no need to be overestimated. Giving appreciation is allowed with the aim of rewarding hard work for one period, but don't overdo it.

"Congratulations to the new management board who have just been appointed, we really hope that UKM UPBA UINSA will always get better and can shine inside and outside UINSA," said the Secretary of DEMA FTK UINSA.

After being inaugurated, Amelia Fernanda expressed her gratitude to all of the new management board and the committees who have worked hard in making two events successful at once, namely the Inauguration and Working Meeting (MusKer) UPBA.

The Student Activity Unit, UPBA UINSA has a big wishes for the new generation of UPBA. The wishes is they can actively participate in the organization's routine activities so that it can become a provision to compete in competitions both inside and outside the university.

In this regard, the new management board of UPBA UINSA is led by Amelia Fernanda as the General Chief; Salsabilla Laili Ramadhanti as the General Secretary; and Dian Nila Kurnia as the General Treasurer. Others are Wilda Sabila as the Coordinator of Foreign Language Division; Siti Maghfirotur Rohmah as the Coordinator of Development and Cadreization Division; Ahmad Wahyu Surya Dilaga as the Coordinator of Public Relations Division; Aryoga Nugroho as the Coordinator of Publication and Actualization Division; and Silminda as the Coordinator of  PMB Division. 

Not to forget, Mr. Bachtiar Rifa'i, M. Pd.I, who is the supervisor of the Student Activity Unit (UKM) UPBA also appealed to the students, that apart from doing activities in organization, the students must also pay attention about the study period, remembering that to maintain the existence and good name of the university.

 

UPBA PROFILE 2022

Who doesn't know what UPBA is? "UPBA" is already familiar to the public within the scope of the State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya. So, UPBA (Unit Pengembangan Bahasa Asing) is a Student Activity Unit (UKM) under the auspices of the Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty, State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya. The various languages which taught and will be studied together at UPBA are English, Arabic, Japanese and Korean. Besides being used as a forum for learning and improving about four languages, UPBA can also be used as a forum for self-development, one of which is to improve leadership skills. Wow, very interesting isn't it?

In the beginning, UPBA was formed on May 2^nd, 2002 with the initial name LPBA (Lembaga Pengembangan Bahasa Asing) and was ratified at the Office of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training of IAIN (now become UIN) Sunan Ampel Surabaya. The formation of UKM UPBA is not without reason. The interest of PBA (Arabic Language Education) and PBI (English Education) Study Program students regarding the development of foreign languages and the desire to share knowledge about foreign languages to the students of State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya is the basis for the formation of UPBA.

It doesn't feel that at this time UPBA has entered a new management period, namely the 2022-2023 periods. Exactly on March 19^th, 2022, an inauguration agenda for new management was held, which was then continued with a Work Deliberation agenda—the agenda for the preparation and inauguration of various work programs that will be carried out for one full term. This agenda called MusKer (Musyawarah Kerja).

Amelia Fernanda, a student of English Education Study Program (PBI) has been officially inaugurated as the General Chief of UPBA for the 2022-2023 periods in the Inauguration and Work Deliberation agenda which was held on March 19^th, 2022 at Mukmin Mandiri Islamic Boarding School, Sidoarjo and also through Zoom Meetings.

After the agenda for the inauguration of the general chief of UPBA and new term administrators, the next agenda is the Work Deliberation which held on Saturday, 19^th 2022 until Sunday, March 20^th 2022. The agenda is for the preparation and inauguration of various work programs that will be carried out for a full period. Some of the work programs that have been inaugurated are the work programs of the BPH Division (Badan Pengurus Harian) such as Dies Up, Alumni Gathering, Annual Member Meeting, etc; work programs of the Language Development Division or FOLADIV such as Language Studies, TOEFL Studies, Online Test Competitions, etc; the work programs of Development and Cadreization Division such as Management Studies, OCB (Orientasi Cinta Bahasa), International Seminar, WOS (Workshop Organizing Skills) and Rihlah; Public Relations Division work programs such as Charity, Social Teaching, Comparative Studies, etc; the Publication and Actualization Division work programs related to content design, event posting, kaleidoscope creation, and design training; and then the PMB Division (Pengembangan Minat Bakat) work programs such as Podcasts, Public Speaking and Writing Studies for UPBA members also administrators, U-news, and etc.

During the 2022 management period, of course, it is hoped that UPBA will be better, all work programs that have been inaugurated can run smoothly, and all of the management board and members can remain united and maintain solidarity. As the General Chief of UPBA (2022-2023) said that “Every general chief wants his/her Student Activity Unit to be better in every period. Even though it's still a pandemic, I hope all the members and administrators can participate more actively in every UPBA activity/events. Solidarity is something I always emphasize. Don't let there be a split in UPBA”.
