 WORKSHOP ORGANIZING SKILL OFFLINE PERTAMA SETELAH PANDEMI: HOW DID YOU FEEL?

WOS atau Workshop Organizing Skill merupakan agenda tahunan UKM UPBA yang diadakan setelah agenda perekrutan anggota baru atau OCB (Orientasi Cinta Bahasa) usai. Pada tahun ini, kegiatan WOS UPBA diadakan secara offline pada Sabtu, 19 November 2022 di Aula Gedung Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Keguruan lantai 4. Dengan mengangkat tema “Organizing an Outstanding Board and Committee for Better Organization”, WOS kali ini mengundang Mr. M. Farkhi Faisol Hakim dan Miss Nur Lia Windani sebagai pemateri.

Kegiatan WOS pada 19 November lalu, diselenggarakan oleh panitia secara spesial untuk dihadiri para anggota UPBA angkatan tahun 2021 dan 2022. Kegiatan WOS UPBA menjadi sebuah ajang pelatihan bagi anggota UPBA guna meningkatkan kemampuan berorganisasi selama berproses dalam organisasi UPBA. Selain itu juga sebagai salah satu cara untuk mengembangkan soft and hard skill, salah satunya yaitu skill kepemimpinan.

Dalam rangkaian acara WOS tahun ini, terdapat dua topik yang dibawakan oleh pemateri yaitu Leadership dan Ke-UPBA-an. Materi dengan topik Leadership yang dibawakan oleh Mr. Farkhi mengulas tentang apa itu leadership, bagaimana skill yang harus dimiliki oleh seorang pemimpin, bagaimana model dan gaya kepemimpinannya, serta tips-tips dalam membangun karakter seorang pemimpin. Sedangkan materi ke-UPBA-an yang dibawakan oleh Miss Nur Lia Windani mengulas tentang hal-hal yang berkaitan dengan UPBA mulai dari berbagai macam kegiatan UPBA, leadership di UPBA, hingga konsep controlling kepanitiaan UPBA.

Seperti yang telah kita ketahui bahwa agenda WOS tahun ini merupakan agenda WOS offline pertama yang diadakan setelah sekian lamanya pelaksanaan physical distancing akibat pandemi global. Bagaimana perasaan para peserta WOS tahun ini? let’s check it out…!

Nah, kita dari tim U-News UPBA telah mewawancarai beberapa peserta WOS tahun ini. Mereka mengaku dengan mengikuti WOS, mereka dapat pengalaman baru yang bisa dijadikan pelajaran. Juga penyampaian materi oleh pemateri yang menarik dan berbobot sehingga mereka merasa chill menikmati alur WOSnya.

“Mengikuti WOS kemaren banyak pelajaran baru yang bisa saya dapat, terutama saat penyampaian materi leadership. Saya belajar banyak dari beliau, dari cara penyampaian hingga isi materi yang luar biasa”. Ujar Ashabul Kahfi, salah satu peserta WOS.

Pada kesempatan yang sama Fawwaz juga memberikan kesan untuk WOS tahun ini, “Ahamdulillah WOS kemarin cukup bisa untuk dinikmati, materi yang dibawa cukup berdaging. Sayangnya jam pelaksanaannya molor”. Tak lupa ia juga memberikan pesan kepada panitia WOS tahun depan “Tetep semangat untuk para panitia, semoga lebih bisa disiplin waktu”, Tambahnya.

Do you know what month it is now? Is there anything special in this month?

Yes, this month is October. October is one of the historic and special month for the Indonesian people because this month is celebrated as the month of language.

Why October?

There is a historic event in the month of October. The incident occurred precisely on October 28, 1928, namely “Sumpah Pemuda”. In this event, the official language used for communication by the Indonesian people was also determined, namely the Indonesian language of unity. Therefore, until now October is celebrated as the month of Indonesian language and literature.

Indonesia, which consists of thousands of islands with various tribes, races and cultures, certainly requires a language that can be a tool in communicating and interacting. We should be proud of the Indonesian language as a unifying tool.

Indeed, the commemoration of the month of Indonesian language and literature is not widely known, even by most of the Indonesian people themselves. Usually, academics, language activists, language observers, and people who also focus on activities with linguistic matters only know about it. This month, activities such as poetry writing competitions, short stories writing competitions, speech competitions, and other competitions related to language are held to introduce the public to the Indonesian language and literature month.

The month of language has been going on for a very long time. The event, which aims to improve the dissemination of language and literature in Indonesia, has been held every October since 1980 by the Language Development and Development Agency. At that time it was called Language Month. It was only in 1989 that Language Month was changed to Language and Literature Month. That means the name Month of Language and Literature has been used for 32 years. Nonetheless, it seems we are more familiar with the short name.

Prioritizing Indonesian is something that is very necessary. This is not only the task of the Language Development and Development Agency (BPPB), but also the task of all Indonesian people. Furthermore, as a form of BPPB's efforts to foster and develop Indonesian language and literature, the Language and Literature Month is held every year. Well even so, having the ability to speak a foreign language is also a necessity and becomes important in this era. However, never forget our native language. Stay proud of our national language, Indonesian. Let's celebrate language month with enthusiasm as proof of our love for language.
