UPBA’S ALUMNI GATHERING AT UPBA’s 20^th ANNIVERSARY

On Sunday, May 22^nd 2022, the Student Activity Unit of the Foreign Language Development Unit (UKM UPBA) of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya for the first time held an offline Alumni Gathering activity after the Covid-19 pandemic that hit Indonesia. This activity was held to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of UPBA. The event which took place at Raja Angkringan, Wonocolo was attended by around 36 participants ranging from alumni, demisioners and UPBA administrators.

Alumni Gathering is one of UPBA's activities which is held annually, This activity is communicative in nature with an emphasis on sharing experiences with fellow UPBA’s alumni and demisioners from across generations/periods.. Especially in this year, the Alumni Gathering was held with the theme, "How to Charge Synergy to Create Innovative Organizations".

The Alumni Gathering, on the last Sunday, began with the opening, remarks speech by the chief executive and general chair of UPBA, then continued with the showing of video documentation of UPBA’s activities. However, the main event of this activity is a talkshow that is in accordance with the theme, namely "How to Charge Synergy to Create Innovative Organization". The speaker in this talkshow session was Faiz Miftahul Huda, M.Med.Kom. who is one of the alumni of the 2014 batch. Then, the Talkshow session was continued with a QnA session directed by the MC as well as a moderator from a member of UPBA batch 2021, namely Alfiatuz Zahro.

Furthermore, the highlight of the Alumni Gathering event was the symbolic cutting of the cone by the chief executive of the event who was also accompanied by the General Chair of UPBA. While waiting for the arrival of Mr. Bahtiar Rifai'i as the UPBA’s supervisor, the next event was continued with an ice breaking activity. During the ice breaking, all participants including alumni committee and demisioners were asked to stand up, we played many fun games, which is whoever is wrong and loses will be punished to come forward, and the punishment is according to mutual agreement.

            Last but not least, there was a speech from the UPBA UKM supervisor and to be continued with a sharing session. The event was then closed with a prayer led by the UPBA's supervisor, Mr. Bahtiar Rifai’i.
