UPBA GOES TO THE NEXT PERIOD….

This month is December. Time flies so fast, is not it?

December will be the last month for the board of UPBA 2022 in its period. Thankfully, all the activities that have been arranged in a work program for each division have been successfully realized during this period.

Unit Pengembangan Bahasa Asing (UPBA) is a Student Activity Unit (UKM) under the auspices of the Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty, State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya. This Student Activity Unit focuses on the area of ​​language development which includes English, Arabic, Japanese, and Korean. UKM UPBA was formed on May 2, 2002. Gratefully, UPBA has been running for 20 years.

Many ups and downs as well as obstacles have been through together this year. The Covid-19 pandemic period was one of the most formidable hurdles for the board of UPBA 2022 since it was a transition period where all activities that were previously carried out online will be carried out offline.

Amel as the chief of UPBA 2022 said: "Going through all of this is challenging because the activities and committees that I participated in before were online so there had to be adjustments again." 

However, the board of UPBA 2022 period gets a lot of benefits, meaningful experience, and also a deep impression on fellow administrators.

The following statements are expressions from several board members of UPBA 2022

Khana: "This year's management is very extraordinary because the events are started and conducted offline.

Andini: "I am very happy to be able to take part in all the events in the 2022 UPBA work program so that I can learn many things. Moreover, I am entrusted with holding the responsibility as deputy chairperson of UPBA in 2022."

Anna: "The most memorable thing was during OCB 2022 because that was my first experience as the leader of the committee for the work program at UPBA that was conducted offline."

Fitriyah: "For a year joining the management of UPBA, it feels exciting. I got a lot of new things, knowledge, relationships, and also new experiences.”

Dayat: "Joining the board of UPBA 2022 is an honor for me because I gain new knowledge as well as able to learn how to organize."

From some of the expressions above, we can know that there are a lot of advantages to joining the board of UPBA because there are a lot of new things, new knowledge, relationships as well as new experiences that can be obtained.

Moreover, many hopes that also expressed for the better UPBA for the next period:

Dayat said, "Hopefully the next board of UPBA period can be more solid and successful." 

Nabil said, "I hope that the board of UPBA 2022 will be able to bring UPBA better with all of 

the work programs then democracy within the organization can also be improved." 

Messages and hopes were also conveyed by Alifia, “Keep communicating and cohesiveness between the board of UPBA. If there are any problems, they should be communicated together. I also hope that the board of the next period can develop and carry out work programs well, and also can provide good achievements so that it can be able to make UPBA goes to university.”

Last but not least, Amelia Fernanda as the chief of UPBA 2022 said, "I hope that the board of UPBA 2022 which is in the 5th semester will continue in the next period of board of UPBA by correcting the mistakes that were made in the 2022 period. Many important points need attention. Don't forget to always maintain cohesiveness and communication.”
